FOUNDATIONAL CAPABILITY
Theatre-specific emissivity tuning and pattern customisation allow optimisation for different environments and threats while maintaining consistent application methods across mixed fleets, supporting combined arms operations and logistical simplicity.
Simple and scalable application methodologies, including pattern-induced geometric degradation that exploits sensor resolution limits and MTF roll-off, blurring outlines and visible geometric structure.
Average radiant suppression of approx. 68–80% at short range, achieved through low-emissivity tuning and surface emission control.
Beyond traditional concealment, INTERMAT can be deliberately employed as a deception system by reversing its core function. INTERMAT can configure the coatings to generate enhanced, misleading, or decoy thermal profiles to confuse enemy targeting and degrade AI-driven targeting algorithms’ performance.

INTERMAT Visual/IR signature management coatings can be applied almost anywhere: buildings, depots, hangars, airfield taxiways and corridors, fixed anti-aircraft systems, air conditioning units, generators, and on all surfaces, including concrete/cement, plaster, bricks, and asphalt (alkaline surfaces).
Our coatings provide increased survivability of combat vehicles, fixed assets and personnel. Proven to defeat EO/IR sensors & IR-seeking ordnance.
Coatings have defeated “Lock-On” and tracking systems by reducing thermal signature & detection range of targets by up to 75%.
These coatings have also been proven to reduce the compounding radiation absorption effects of environmental sources, in turn reducing heat radiation into the internal crew compartments of vehicles, reducing temperatures on average 7.4°C.
INTERMAT Signature Management Coatings are not only for land assets. Coatings and materials have been utilised to protect assets against IR detection and targeting from peer-on-peer adversaries and their most modern thermally guided weapon systems & ISR platforms across all Defence domains.
Coatings have been successfully utilised for maritime purposes and proven extremely effective in a number of NATO member trials.
These coatings have been formulated to not only provide IR signature management at sea but also withstand the rigours of the harsh maritime environment.
TIPPING THE SCALES
INTERMAT’s foundational signature management capability significantly reduces detectable IR emissions whilst directly targeting infrared sensor limitations.
Coating tunability enables multi-emissivity visual/IR camouflage and concealment solutions. Emissivity bands can be further refined to align with background radiance mapping and iterative IPTCM simulations. Planners can balance these parameters to maximise effects, whilst degrading DRI against known thermal sensor threats.
Patterned multi-emissivity application can produce false negatives and reduced probability values for AI-enhanced thermal target recognition systems, surveillance and munitions (e.g., CNN-based algorithms like YOLO or ResNet adapted for IR targeting), whilst standard unicolour application has been proven to significantly degrade FGM-148 Javelin (AAWS-M) engagement ranges by up to 75%.

Simple and scalable application methodologies: coatings are fully compatible with most flexible textiles and rigid substrates, requiring only standard surface preparation similar to conventional CARC or PUR paints. INTERMAT coatings have been proven to be interoperable with existing Radar Absorbent Materials (RAM) and coatings.
